Date/Time: September 22, 29, October 6, 27, November 3, 10, 17, 24 (5:30pm-8:00pm)

Note:

  • This course is designed for people who are currently supporting an individual with an ASD.
  • This course is limited to 20 participants.

Description: Participants will gain a thorough understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and an overview of current intervention techniques. Content will include diagnostic characteristics, current theories regarding causation, communication challenges, sensory and behavioural considerations, anxiety and ASD, social skill difficulties and Asperger’s Syndrome. Intervention strategies for all areas will be reviewed.

Participants will be required to write a brief evaluation. There will be assignments throughout the course. Contingent upon regular attendance, satisfactory completion of assignments and achieving at least 80% on an evaluation, participants will receive a certificate indicating that they received Level 1 training from Geneva Centre for Autism.
